Job summary

Position Purpose: Responsible for training, directing and supervising production personnel in the performance of their assigned duties and achievement of department production, quality and safety goals. Ensures production schedules are maintained and customers needs are met while adhering to CHEP's quality criteria.

Job Duties:
* Work with management team to develop an action plan to insure that budget, goals and targets are achieved in a timely manner.
* Administers the production schedule for the plant's procedures to ensure accurate inventory levels) more economical labor costs, meet On Time Performance (OTP) goals) and better utilization of existing facilities.
* Develop and implement programs to reduce waste and improve productivity.
* Coordinate the production activities of the department with the rest of the facility and maintain schedules to achieve a high level of productivity
* Identify areas for quality improvement and initiate problem solving activities to improve quality performance.
* Identify training needs, help develop training programs and assist in training of employees.
* Establish an environment conducive to employee participation and facilitate the development of teams. Conduct periodic audits of work teams to determine their needs and effectiveness.
* Develop, implement and administer programs for improving pallet operations.
* Maintain departments so that they are in a state of readiness for customer visits and audits.

* Ensure standards of productivity, safety and accuracy are met.
* Provide guidance to the development of pallet repair and sortation process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, facility needs, an equipment maintenance needs.
* Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational, pallet repair and sortation, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
* Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives and maintain vendor relationships.
* Ensures adequate training of all personnel, to include cross-training. Provide consistent feedback via performance appraisals.
* Maintain all equipment and automation as required for optimal operating efficiency.
* Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with our customer.

Education and/or Experience:
* Bachelors degree, or 5 years experience in a leadership role in production/warehouse distribution environment.
* Equipment maintenance/mechanical experience highly desirable.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers; clients and other employees of the organization. Some ability to converse or communicate in Spanish is highly desirable

Computer Skills:

Able to perform computer tasks using Microsoft Office suite.

You must have
* Bachelors degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience.

* Five years warehousing experience in a leadership role, with emphasis on leadership, supervision, communication and planning.
* Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
* Skilled in the use of all Microsoft software.
* Effective communication skills.
* Project management skills are essential to manage initiatives implemented from senior management.
* Experience in Lean Manufacturing techniques or equivalent manufacturing efficiency principles.
