Sr Data Engineering ConsultantPosition Description
In the Emerging Technologies Practice at CGI, our consultants and technologists apply their deep expertise and problem-solving skills to implement cutting-edge and industry best solutions. Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our team. Our Data Engineers work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, are passionate about data accuracy and reliability and are always looking for new and more efficient ways to extract, process, and transform data. In this role, you will collaborate with the team while individually contributing to project deliverables that meet our clients' needs.
Candidates local to Austin, Dallas or Houston, Texas preferred. Team members should plan to be in a hybrid work environment.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Work within technical teams to develop, implement, and operationalize advanced data pipelines for reporting, machine learning, and other business critical applications
Define customer and business requirements to implement robust cloud-based data pipeline solutions for end users.
Regularly interface with client sponsors and team members to meet project deadlines and provide clear communication with the team
Provide documentation and explanation of technical solutions in a professional manner
Collaborate and closely align with solution architects, senior data engineers, data analysts, and cloud engineering teams
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Expertise and hands-on experience developing and deploying SQL, Python, and Spark-based data pipelines into production environments
Expertise with OLTP (i.e. MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and OLAP (i.e. Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Synapse) database technologies
Experience with at least one major cloud platform (i.e. Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
Experience using data manipulation tools to source, transform, and blend data from multiple different data sources
Experience using Big Data or Cloud integration technologies such as Databricks, Matillion, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, etc.
Experience integrating with a variety of data sources including APIs, databases, on-prem applications, cloud applications, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills, presentation, and data narration/storytelling abilities
Hands-on technical experience with DevOps and CI/CD processes and tools, such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, and Google Cloud Build
Experience in creating dashboards and visulatons utilizing popular BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
Experience creating streaming pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, Azure Event Hub, AWS Kinesis, etc.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set level, experience and training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $84,000 - $186,000.
