Responsibilities:
Provides routine treatments and interventions consistent with the educational level and skills learned in the academic environment and demonstrated competency through Orlando Health.
Performs advanced skills after achievement of demonstrated competencies such as: nasogastric tube irrigation, suctioning, and removal; wound irrigation; complex dressing change; maintenance of enteral tube feeding (Dobhoff, Nasogastric, and Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy); and tracheostomy care.
Performs increase or continuous visual observation for Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients as assigned and utilizes the Safe Patient Room Environment Checklist with change of staff or transfer of care as part of handoff for Baker Act, behavioral health, and suicide risk patients.
Assists patients with hygiene, mobility, and nutritional needs.
Maintains safety and security of patients, families, self, and other members of the healthcare team.
Assures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
Follows standard precautions. Adheres to Hand Hygiene and PPE procedures.
Communicates appropriate information regarding the patients condition to the registered nurse (RN) and other members of the healthcare team.
Participates in handoff report and purposeful hourly rounding on patients.
Documents information according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines.
Transports and assists patients through the admission and discharge process. Transports Baker Act, behavioral health and suicide risk patients to diagnostic testing and procedures.
Maintains a safe and clean environment.
Provides exceptional service and or care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.
Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products and medications (excluding substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
May have limited access to areas storing medications.
Receives and processes incoming calls, patient calls, and guest requests.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions
Completes all mandatory training.
Participates in nursing Performance Improvement (PI) activities as assigned.
Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status.
Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
Provides the care needed as described in Orlando Healths policies and procedures.
Consistently uses time and resources effectively and efficiently.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Training
Enrolled in Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program.
Preparing to enter final two semesters/quarter of nursing program.
Proof of continued enrollment in pre-licensure, professional nursing program with no break in enrollment to exceed one year
Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification.
