The Senior Grant Writer researches foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities and develops successful grant applications in support of corporate and regional needs. Overall, the Senior Grant Writer contributes to the CHS high performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, case management, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Essential Job Functions

1. Manage, write and submit grant proposals and supporting documents for foundation, corporation and government funding in support of the Corporate Office and regional operations.

Conduct prospect research on public and private funding opportunities at the local, state, and national level.

Present details about funding opportunities to other CHS team members.

Maintain accurate records in Raisers Edge donor software.

Provide grant technical support to Grant Writers and other CHS Team members.

Maintain effective, positive relationships through communication with prospective and current grantors.

Participate in grant technical training provided by funding agencies.

Keep abreast of the changing grant landscape and proposal guidelines.

Keep CHS management apprised of projected, pending and submitted grant proposals.

Prepare post-award documentation in a timely fashion and submit to all stakeholders.

Participate in grant pre-bid conferences.

Assist with special projects as needed.

2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.

Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on job-related issues and trends.

Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.

Comply with CHSs code of conduct, policies, procedures and other obligations.

Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.

Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond values in the performance of all job duties.

Job Qualifications

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelors degree in a field related to grant writing or human services from an accredited university, required; Masters, preferred.

Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Florida Driver's License within 30 days from hire with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle, required.

Experience

Three to Five years of successful experience in federal, state, and foundation grant writing and administration, required.

Experience working in a social services related non-for-profit agency, strongly preferred.

Experience administering the grant writing process for a social services related non-for-profit agency, strongly preferred.

Experience utilizing a fundraising and constituent relationship management (CRM) system, Raisers Edge, preferred.

Experience planning, preparing and delivering grant-writing workshops, preferred.

Experience with providing support, training, and supervision of the grant writing process, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of

GRANT WRITING

Skills and proficiency in:

Planning, project management, organization and time management

Oral and superior technical written communication

Collaboration and teamwork, consulting and facilitation, coaching and mentoring

Computer-based information systems and software, including Word, Excel and Outlook

Ability to:

Perform at a high level of autonomy, with general supervision.

Perform under strong demands in fast-paced, diverse, sometimes ambiguous environments.

Commit to providing high customer satisfaction with positive service delivery results.

Meet critical deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
