About the job:
The RN Specialist-Radiation Oncology oversees and coordinates nursing care for the patients in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Provides ongoing and episodic case management to patients and families undergoing cancer care and treatment with referrals to other disciplines and programs as appropriate.
Provides physical assessment and attention to radiation therapy side effects to provide optimal pain and symptom management.
Provide counseling, education and direct nursing care as appropriate.
Maintains accurate treatment records.
Act as an advocate for patient and family by respecting and encouraging informed choice.
What we are looking for:
*RN Graduate
* Current license to practice as an Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio required
* A minimum of two years recent and relevant clinical experience in Oncology. Certified as an oncology nurse (OCN) or hospice nurse (CRNH) preferred. * Demonstrates a broad knowledge of nursing and the ability to apply new skills and techniques.
* Able to perform professional duties with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrates ability to make decisions, initiates action under stress and in critical situations.
* Possesses a high level of professionalism and the ability to establish good rapport with patients, staff, and physicians.
* Computer literate with attention to detail.
*Current BLS certification required.
* Compassion and the ability to care for the terminally ill.
* Ability to travel to multiple work and/or business sites.
