Position Title: Senior Project Manager
Location: New York
Duration: 1-yr term with the option to renew 2 times (each time for a year) for a total of 3 years
Work Schedule: Remote
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Develop and maintain working relationships with key contacts among NYSERDA's program teams, advising and facilitating collaboration on clean energy-related policy and program development.
Research best practices and promising program models and develop clear and compelling recommendations for equitable program development that provide multiple co-benefits for historically underserved and marginalized communities from clean energy investment.
Work with NYSERDA teams to advance disadvantaged community stakeholder engagement in the planning of new initiatives and updates to existing initiatives.
Manage and support community engagement for NYSERDA initiatives in service of inclusive participation and community partnerships, in alignment with and using NYSERDA's equitable engagement protocol and practices.
Develop and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders in environmental justice and low- and moderate-income communities across New York State, facilitating collaboration on energy-related policy and program development.
Participate in internal team meetings and relevant community stakeholder meetings, includiong those required for cross-team collaboration.
Support cross-team collaboration and NYSERDA teams' engagement and compensation of community based organizations via established pool of disadvantaged community representative organizations (or other reimbursement mechanism if appropriate) to support community engagement.
Develop and manage strategic initiatives, in consultation with Energy and Climate Equity team leadership, as needed.
Document new and ongoing collaborations with NYSERDA teams and recommendations identifying emerging needs and opportunities for strategic development and collaboration, in alignment with NYSERDA's Cliamte Equity Help Desk and cross-team collaboration processes.

NYSERDA's contracts and financial records system (PeopleSoft - NEIS)
Required systems experience:

To be considered for this position, you should have:
10+ Years experienced required.
Bachelor's degree and 10-15 years of experience in clean energy and community planning, or comparable work experience.
Humility, active listening, and ability to come up to speed and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Has in-depth analytical and technical expertise to act as duty subject expert in a technical or programmatic area.
Has demonstrated sound judgement based on extensive experience.
Has extensive awareness of social, economic and environmental contexts of energy technology of Deployment issues. Recognized outside of NYSERDA as a known expert in the field.
Has demonstrated ability to develop and manage major complex projects.
Is the creative force behind at least one whole technical or Deployment area within a program.
Has demonstrated capability to build/maintain a new multi-project program in at least one program element involving several interrelated projects to meet a technical or program goal.
Has demonstrated ability to obtain co-funding or leverage private resources for projects with little or no assistance from the supervisor.
Proposes new program directions and technical strategies. Works closely with Program Manager in developing the Program and in developing junior staff.
Has consistently demonstrated the ability to put required level of program in place.
Is Authority resource capable of leading difficult technical and project management work groups and assignments.
Prioritizes, manages and self-initiates multiple assignments while consistently taking charge of work groups.
Has demonstrated ability to act as team leader and thought leader of interdepartmental working groups on complex and/or sensitive assignments.
Supervises the day-to-day work and structures assignments to enhance the development of junior staff. Inspires trust and respect at all levels throughout the organization.
Has a well developed bureaucratic and policy sense. Is able to identify, distinguish and maintain focus on primary objectives in developing program initiatives or resolving problems.
Produces effective and purposeful written material that requires no editing.
Constructively edits work and mentors junior staff.
Effectively represents Authority in difficult or complex negotiations with outside contacts and customers.
Presents ideals clearly and concisely in oral and written format. Makes presentations or serves as a panelist or workshop leader at professional meetings, conferences and seminars.
Proficiency with research and assessment of the applications and limitations of clean energy policy, regulatory, technology and program best practices and models in the context of limited resource and disadvantaged communities.
Knowledge of how to assess and be responsive to community needs. Ability to identify barriers to clean energy access along with potential solutions.
Proficiency with multiculturally competent facilitation of community engagement and input through interviews, focus groups, surveys, etc., Knowledge of and experience with community benefits plans and agreements.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local policy and governmental programs related to environmental justice, clean energy, and infrastructure.
Deep knowledge of concepts, terms, principles and practices related to distributed clean energy technologies.
Experience with the research and development, policy innovation, and deployment of distributed clean energy technologies.
Proficiency in writing and concretely synthesizing and translating technical information for multiple audiences including industry stakeholders and the general public. Proficiency with developing strategies, recommendations, and communicating and presenting information for executive review.
Meeting facilitation experience. Competency with fundamentals of project management, business communications, and reporting. Problem solving abilities. Ability to contribute to the development of program evaluation design.
