Job summary

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is looking for a responsible and organized individual to join our team as the Operations/Healthy Living Director for our First & Main location. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position has a duel role focusing on operational oversight and leadership of the Fountain Family YMCA as well as Membership. Healthy Living Director: This position will supervise all aspects of programming, sales and member engagement related to the healthy living department at the YMCA at First and Main. Emphasis shall be on maintaining the highest level of customer service as well as the overall process of selling, connecting and promoting result based and member engagement programming through personal training, small group training and group exercise options. This individual must possess computer skills as well as have experience in developing and implementing programs and customer service strategies. The Director will create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing leadership, knowledge of hiring, training and supervision of staff, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, and an orientation for membership sales and promotion. They must be friendly, outgoing, creative and flexible with leadership, management and organizational skills. Operations Director: This position will also be responsible for the day to day operation of the center. The Director will work with the various departments in the association to develop, organize, and implement high quality YMCA and community programs to enhance the member and program participant YMCA experience and meet the needs of the community. OPERATIONS/HEALTHY LIVING DIRECTOR REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion or Health Education or three years of general work experience in related field or a combination of education and work experience in related field. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organization YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred Demonstrated skills and experience in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, and supervision Experience in the field of sales, customer relations, and marketing Experience in office/administrative support and computer knowledge Demonstrated professionalism in both attitude and appearance Excellent written and oral communication skills Previous experience hiring, supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff. Experience with program design, implementation and retention. The ability to connect with and relate to all generations is essential. Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, expense control, public relations, promotion, and public speaking, written and verbal communication skills, fundraising and record-keeping. Must have ability to deliver programs of the highest quality and have a knowledge/background of group exercise and personal training, and small group training. Successfully complete all YUSA online trainings within 60 days of hire. Must have current YMCA of the USA Foundations of Group Exercise OR current ACE Group Fitness Instructor, AFAA Group Fitness Instructor certification, NETA Group Exercise certification, ACSM Group Exercise certification. Current certification of personal training in one or more of the following: AAPTE, ACSM, ACE, NSCA, AFAA, NASM, NETA, Cooper Institute, IFPA, NCCPT, NCSF, NESTA required General knowledge of fitness principles and training adaptations including basic anatomy and physiology. Two or more years of experience personal training and teaching group exercise is preferred. Experience or interest in Special Populations and/or Evidence Based Programs is preferred. Minimum age of 21 years old OPERATIONS/HEALTHY LIVING DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Healthy Living Executes a High Level of Engagement through our Jump Start Program working with our membership team to set members up on their Jump Start. Establishes a sustainable Revenue Based Small Group Training Program utilizing all aspects of the branch Develops, implements, directs and supervises program activities to meet the Healthy Living department strategy. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA. Leads through inspiration and role modeling. Manage equipment and facilities in areas of responsibility including preventative maintenance and repair and replacement planning. Continually develop personalized healthy living programs in order to meet the needs of all members. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. Coordinates special events and activities. Champions all association wide healthy living goals on the center level Assist Association Marketing in internal/external marketing strategies and production of material to promote internal/external member experience and retention. Responsible for implementation, quality, growth, and evaluation of designated programs. Understand industry trends and evolution of current and new programming. Work scheduled hours in program area, modeling a commitment to excellence. Evaluate staff and programs, following established timelines set up by the department and association. Be visible to staff and members throughout all hours of operations. Enrich the member experience introducing them to new programs, staff, members and volunteer activities. Work closely with the membership department to ensure processes and onboarding systems are in place and are being implemented. Track and respond to KPI information. Operations Liaison for internal and external member needs/concerns. Create and implement MOD schedules for the branch. Support association strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the center and designated program area. Serves as a member of assigned YMCA staff teams and supports the overall objectives of the In collaboration with program departments, identifies and expands program within the community. Maintains a safe and orderly environment in all areas of the facility by conducting facility audits to identify maintenance, facility cleanliness, safety, and security concerns. Identifies strategic collaborative partnerships that congruently align with the YMCA's strategic priorities. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Supervise and Develop Staff Recruits, hires, trains, develops, supervises, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Develops, implements, and sustains a branch specific healthy living staff training program. Ensures staff compliance with Association requirements and standards Models our YMCA values through fun, positive relationships with staff and members. Seek every opportunity to encourage, motivate and thank fellow staff members for their work. Participates in applicable training and conferences to further professional growth as outlined in annual training plans. Facilitates relationships and schedules regular communication with branch staff. Hold staff accountable to established policy and procedures, ensuring all staff are trained appropriately and well equipped to fulfill the expectations and functions of
their position. Hold staff meetings and training opportunities on a regular basis. Financial Development Develop relationships with internal/external members to secure financial development success. Provide training and equip staff with tools to better communicate our cause. Provide support in annual giving efforts to increase the participation percentage of our membership base. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign through community outreach, recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events. Support and participate on volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Fiscal Accountability and Administration Develop and monitor assigned budgets following the association guidelines and best practices and take appropriate action to maintain the fiscal integrity of the department. Meet all annual and monthly reporting deadlines. Utilize Daxko to monitor resources and revenue lines. Provide support related to administration functions for department and branch needs as required. Ensures payroll records are accurately inputted for staff. Community Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental Develops and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with community agencies in service delivery Association Works closely with the marketing department to ensure all marketing deadlines are met and initiatives are successful. Participates in assigned branch and association-wide events, meetings and activities.
