Bright Ideas Enrichment Center in Bryant, Arkansas is looking for someone to transport their precious cargo Monday through Friday in the mornings & afternoons (no weekends!). Bus Driver Job Summary: The Bus Driver will be responsible for maintaining full oversight of the child care center's transportation program while adhering to the company's mission of providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for children to grow, develop, and shine. The successful candidate will be self-driven, reliable, punctual, and possess an impeccable driving record. The day to day responsibilities: The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of children (up to 28 students) to and from the Bright Ideas Enrichment Center. The successful candidate will work under general supervision while ensuring compliance with all existing municipal/state/federal regulations and safety standards. Additionally, the bus driver will establish routes, schedules and procedures with the center director to maximize the safety of children. He/she will complete a daily inspection of the bus, a weekly inspection of tires, oil, blades, etc. and report all bus maintenance issues to the Director. Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Ensure the bus always has sufficient fuel (never getting below half a tank). Keep exterior mirrors clean and adjusted at all times. Know, recognize, and obey road signs and signals by meanings, shapes, sounds, and colors. Keep the interior of the bus clean (including sweeping the floor and emptying trash). Exercise the effective defensive driving skills of self-control, alertness, foresight and good judgment at all times while operating the bus. Maintain discipline on the bus without jeopardizing safety while driving. Remain alert at all times to hazards including but not limited to, poor weather conditions, other vehicles, road conditions and trains at railroad crossings. In case of accidents/emergencies, ensure that the evacuation of children is safe, avoiding any hazardous conditions. Routinely inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment, reports needs to the Director, or delegated staff person. Conduct a thorough walk through of the bus making sure no child is left alone on bus without adult supervision at any time, including ensuring all children have departed bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other trips). Ability to work with children of all abilities and disabilities and provide for each of their respective needs. Ensure that when roll call is taken the appropriate number of children load the bus. The ability to perform any other tasks that would be related to this position assigned by the Director, Assistant Director, and/or the Vice President of Operations. Benefits: Monday-Friday Split Schedule with Nights and Weekends OFF! 6:00am until 8:00am morning shift (may vary) 2:00pm until 4:00pm afternoon shift (may vary) Discounted Childcare for children of staff Weekly Pay Required Skills/Abilities: Must undergo a Level 2 background check and be able to pass drug screen Class C CDL driver preferred Impeccable driving record Previous driving experience, childcare driving experience preferred Ideal candidate is self-driven, reliable, and punctual Must be able to relate well to parents, children and other staff members Must possess the ability to keep accurate reports and records Flexibility in work hours and responsibilities Friendly, positive, and approachable demeanor Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times Must be at least 18 years of age Must meet state requirements for education and additional center/school requirements that may apply Physical Requirements: Able to frequently lift or move an average weight as in lifting, carrying, and holding children (10-60 pounds) Occasional heavy weights (over 60 pounds) Able to demonstrate sufficient strength, agility, hearing and visual acuity to exercise safe control over the school bus and passengers at all times Able to stoop and bend to interact on a child's level Able to seek assistance to perform physical demands on the job if necessary, such as lifting a heavy object or moving heavy objects
