Job summary
The Underwriting Assistant is a customer focused position that is the first point of contact between CompSource and our agents or direct policyholders. The Underwriting Assistant screens incoming new business submissions and policy change requests per established guidelines for processing. The Underwriting Assistant gathers information necessary to problem solve, process renewals, policy changes and new business as directed by underwriters and the leadership team in a team environment.In this Role You Will
* Assist the underwriter in gathering and compiling required information to properly underwrite and price risks submitted for consideration.
* Receive applications for workers compensation insurance received via telephone, mail, fax, CompSource web-site and in person from customers including contracted insurance agents.
* Interview customers to obtain information for application; enters application information into policy administration system and forwards to appropriate staff for disposition
* Prepare certificates of insurance as directed.
* Process requests for renewal policies and enters adjustments to basic policy information, payroll, and premiums based on assigned authority level.
* Process routine to complex NCCI information and forms
* Respond to inquiries from employers, employees and insurance agents concerning workers compensation policies, procedures, and rules.
* Clerical duties such as making policy packets, processing reports, scanning and indexing, daily distribution of system generated reports and mail-out for policyholders and agents.
* Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
* High school diploma or GED required
* Associates degree preferred
* 2 years of business office or customer service experience. Insurance industry experience. preferred
* Ability to obtain Oklahoma issued Property and Casualty Producer license
+ Required for Direct Team Underwriting Assistants.
+ Required for Agent Team Underwriting Assistants.
Other Requirements
This position requires the physical ability to perform extensive repetitive motions in using a computer and the routine use of other office equipment. Work is typically performed while sitting and does not require heavy lifting. Must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel.
