Job summary
Position SummarySupports the Human Resources department with handling mid-level human resource functions and programs including the areas of hourly plant employment recruitment, benefits administration, leave administration (FMLA/WC/DBL), and workers compensation claims, training, etc. Provides information and assistance to employees regarding human resources activities, processes, policies, and procedures. Supports the Human Resources Manager by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist all plant associates with HR concerns
* Counsel employees on leave processes
* Work closely with Supervisors on training documentation requirements
* Manage performance evaluation process
* Process unemployment questionnaires and paperwork
* Assist HRM with employee relations issues and conflict resolution
* Attend weekly production meetings
* Attend job fairs
* Assist with HR Department & Company Events (open enrollment, flu clinic, etc.)
* Assist HRM with special projects as needed
* Foster positive employee relations. Develop and implement solutions to maximize employee retention and engagement
* Attend meetings, networking events, seminars, and conferences as required
* Leave Administration- FMLA, WC, DBL, Personal LOAs
* Reporting injuries to workers compensation carrier
* Advise immediate supervisor and department manager of leave approval and parameters
* Prepare and update files for leave
* Maintain accident and OSHA logs
* Conduct benefits orientations
* Offers assistance to all associates with benefit enrollment
* Liaison between associates and benefit companies when it pertains to the actual policy
* Perform Exit interviews
* Remain current on changes/updates to applicable employment laws and regulations
* Must exemplify a positive, respectful and can do attitude not only for ones self but for how it will affect other associates
* All associates are accountable for their own work, purposed changes and solutions that increase their work performance and the company's business results.
Decision Making Authority
* Leads the onboarding process of all new associates
* Conduct investigations (harassment and/or discrimination)
* Conducts meetings to resolve/effect settlement of personal complaints and resolves associate concerns
* Provide input on promotion, discipline and termination
Required Education/Qualifications for Hire or Promotion
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with high experience in Word and Excel
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
* Local, State and Federal Employment Law knowledge
* Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management and task prioritization skills
* Able to maintain strict confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information
Education and Job Experience Requirements
* Minimum of high school diploma or GED, preferred
* Bachelors degree with 1-3 years of related experience or Associates degree with 3-5 years of related experience preferred
Work Environment and Physical Demands
* Regularly required to sit and use hands
* Occasionally need to lift and/or move 10 lbs. to 25 lbs.
* Sedentary, office environment
* frequent exposure to manufacturing plant floor; requiring the use of personal protective equipment (ear plugs, safety glasses, etc.) and following good safety practices
