Job summary
Job Summary:Coordinates schedules of the catering staff to make sure all functions are delivered, served, and cleared in a timely fashion. Prepares and serves food at scheduled functions under the supervision of the Catering Manager. Delivers food and beverage to catered functions. Sets up functions, serves at functions, breaks down the set-up, and leaves the area neat and clean, re-turns tables to their proper position, returns left over food and equipment to the proper place in a timely manner.
Job Functions:
Determines workload/staffing requirements from information gathered from the catering order.
Schedules staff and communicates expectations for catered functions.
Meets with function group leaders to determine last minute changes and discuss set-up arrangements and problem resolution.
Ensures proper service to clients during the event.
Ensures proper cleaning of all equipment after the function is completed.
May assist personnel in setting up a function room to the desired specifications.
Assembles and delivers all food and supplies for catered functions to the scheduled locations.
Arranges tables and decorations with input from Catering Manager/Event Coordinator.
Set buffet tables with food, beverage, and service items according to pre-established standards.
Serve food and beverages to guests.
Returns food and beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the proper location.
Responsible for ensuring proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures follows HACCP standards.
Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
Handles foods items appropriately during preparation.
Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes and in following prescribed production standards.
Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service as assigned.
Cleans equipment, as assigned and in a timely fashion.
Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments.
Greets and interacts with customers in a courteous manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
Serves customers quickly, in proper portions, in a courteous demeanor.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items and explains same to customers accurately.
Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
Relays relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors.
Consistently exhibits the ability to keep up with peak cafeteria hours and does so calmly, accurately, and efficiently.
Ensures corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed.
Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
Cleans up spills immediately.
Assist other functions as needed, including helping in dining rooms when not busy.
Education and Experience Required:
High school education or GED; related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supervisory experience in food service or wait staff work.
A valid drivers license may be required.
Must possess or able to obtain a valid Food Handlers Permit and/or alcohol servers permit where required by state law.
Skills & Physical Requirements:
Ability to be organized while multi-tasking.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people, especially older adults.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
