Title: Production Technologist I - 2nd ShiftContract: 6 Months
Location: St. Louis, MO
Summary:
To set up machines to order specification for bottling. Fill and label products to order specification. Clean and sanitize equipment between orders. Strict attention to good manufacturing practices and plant safety and sanitation policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:
" Able to read and understand computer generated batch reports in order to set up machines to order specification.
" Able to fill and label products to order specification based on computer generated batch reports.
" Able to verify batch weights and quantities through mathematical calculations.
" Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices for the care, handling and storage of food products; and report any known or observed violations to management.
" Operate a forklift in a safe manner. Must understand and follow all safety procedures.
" Able to lift up to and including 50 pound packages in a safe manner as well as handling heavier packages including 55 gallon drums.
" Must understand and follow procedures for cleaning and sanitizing equipment between orders.
" Must possess and exhibit good verbal communication skills to communicate with all departments and coworkers to alert management of problems or needs to ensure proper continuous operations.
" Must understand and follow procedures of the department for the proper use of the department's equipment.
" Assist Group Leader and Production Supervisor in training new employees and performing competency reviews as needed.
" Utilize HACCP philosophy and procedures in everyday work routine.
" Must understand and follow all plant policies concerning safety/emergency, conduct, maintenance, sanitation and current procedures designed for the department.
" Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
" Compliance with applicable company policies concerning maintaining a drug free work place is required.
" Compliance with all company policies is required.
" Other functions as required (nonessential functions).
" Ensure adherence to all management systems including, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and Food Safety, with an understanding of s Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures. Responsible that these policies and procedures are implemented throughout the organization and all related activities under the position s jurisdiction.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must possess and be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of a Production Tech I (kettle packing, serac, pail filler, drum line, flavor room 3 tank operations, label printing, and SAP).
The incumbent must also possess a high school or equivalent education. The incumbent must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. The ability to work independently and in accordance with company safety and sanitation standards is required. Must have 1-2 years related experience. Knowledge of equipment is required. Previous food plant experience helpful. Forklift truck experience and license required. Basic math skills required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position operates in a production/plant environment 100 percent of the time. Exposure to hazardous materials training is a requirement. Must wear safety clothing, safety glasses and protective mask when required. Must be capable of passing a PFT test for use of respirator where necessary in this environment. Forklift training and license are required.
