Job summary
Overview:The Product Development Formulation Intern will support the Formulation Development team in the laboratory by directly assisting with their experimental studies and projects. This is an excellent opportunity to cultivate foundational lab techniques, increase understanding of the pharmaceutical sector, and obtain hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical drug product development laboratory. This paid internship will be on-site 5 days a week.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean, organized lab environment.
Learn proper usage and maintenance of pharmaceutical manufacturing instruments and analytical equipment.
Support routine lab tasks (preparing buffers, washing glassware, etc.) and participate in advanced pharmaceutical development studies.
Help conduct experimental formulation development and characterization trials.
Utilize multiple analytical techniques to characterize peptide / protein samples and document study observations and experimental data.
Track lab inventory, recording supplies and reagents utilized.
Keep detailed, precise notes on daily work completed in the lab.
Flexibly assist with additional high priority lab tests and scientific tasks, as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled as a student in their third or fourth year of B.Sc. program, or in an M.Sc. program, or as a post-graduate student with familiarity of general laboratory research concepts and safety observations.
Academic background in science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology) or related field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering) required.
Basic knowledge of computer skills (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Self-motivated with a desire to learn new techniques and instrumentation.
Able to work collaboratively in a hands-on laboratory setting.

Working Conditions
Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Periodic overnight travel may occur for conferences and other meetings a few times annually.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. or more.
Adequate vision (corrected or uncorrected) to read fine instruments such as calipers, instrument displays, etc., and perform visual inspection for defects.
Position works with APIs and potentially hazardous chemicals and active pharmaceutical ingredients
