Roles & Responsibilities:Scope of Job:
With the Security Manager, lead the day-to-day operation of the Security Department. This includes managing overnight operations, in addition to the investigations. Maintain a safe and secure environment for guests and MCs by effective implementation of all safety and security procedures. Responsible for the hiring and training of Security Department personnel. Responsible for ensuring daily paperwork, staffing of positions, and resort patrols are properly undertaken.
Key Objectives:
Responsible for overall operations of Resort Security leadership and Resort Security team, to include hiring, training, performance management, time keeping, documentation and compliance.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Operations
Responsible for all overnight & investigations operations of the Security Department, including Park, Water Park, and SEA LIFE, Hotels.
Responsible for maintaining SOPs, training, compliance, initial incident/accident investigations and all documentation within the Security Department.
Leads Investigations team and conducts accident, security, and profit protection investigations, completes written reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviews witnesses, and obtains photographs. Maintain evidence room and ensure physical and electronic evidence is properly handled and stored.
Lead the training and auditing of reports. Ensure reports are accurate, professional, and timely.
Leads intelligence operations regarding guest or employee misconduct. Intelligence gathering can involve interviews, social media investigation, background checks, CCTV, access control, and first-person observation. Liaise with law enforcement regarding investigations when necessary.
Ensure the efficient operation of LEGOBASE, Gate House, and Bag Checks & Metal Detectors.
Supports Technician Specialists in day-to-day access control for the Resort, Water Park, and SEA LIFE & Hotels.
Supports Technician Specialist in the day-to-day use of equipment used by the Security Department including vehicles, radios, office supplies, and other daily equipment.
Ensures parking lot security, including the Model Citizen Parking Garage operations, is secure 24 hours a day.
Responsible for executive protection of VIP guests and dignitaries. Liaise with VIP Experience, law enforcement, and VIP private security to deliver a safe and memorable experience.
Obtain Public Safety Duty Manager Certification (20) and serve in that capacity when dictated by operational needs and/or at the direction of the Public Safety Manager.
Obtain Park Duty Manager Certification (10) and serve in that capacity when dictated by operational needs and/or at the direction of the Public Safety Manager.
Integral part of yearly Mass Casualty Exercise in terms of planning and delivery
Maintain access control.
Patrol both Hotels and surrounding areas.
Write detailed and accurate incident/ reports.
Respond to calls for service including but not limited to:Disturbances
Lost and found children.
Intoxicated/ Disorderly persons.
Lost/ stolen items.
Theft
Vandalism
On property traffic collisions
Medical incidents
Fire/panic alarms.
Money escorts
Key assists
Safe assists
Suspicious persons reports/ resort trespassers.
Operate Park dispatch Center (Utilizing CAD operating system)
Surveillance of Resort utilizing CCTV system
Perform key audits for the entire resort.
Manage Lost and Found for Hotel and perform data entry and logging relating to Lost and Found.
Assisting in managing all hotel key inventories (ex: cancelling master keys and creating new keys and MCIDs)
Inventorying and checking all fire extinguishers resort wide and replacing those not in compliance.
2. Financial
Responsible for Resort Security Labor budget; day to day, weekly, monthly, quarterly and YTD management of Labor hours.
Prevents loss and damage by responding to emergencies, reporting irregularities, enforcing policy and procedures, and restricting access to trespassers. Trains team on how to respond.
KPIs are met. Oversees Security Loss Prevention program.
Ensures Security provides immediate guest recovery relief for injured guests in order to minimize guest claims.
3. Development
Ensures execution of the Security Department OJT/FTO program meets Resort standards.
Ensures all MCs have proper training, certifications and documentation in place as well as staying up to date on all compliance issues and expiration dates of any time sensitive Security certificates/training for the Security team.
Responsible for the PDP program by writing, reviewing and evaluating reviews for the Resort Security team.
4. People
Performance management of Resort & Hotel Security Teams.
Ensures scheduling and payroll services for entire Security team are met with Central Planning support.
Provides excellent service and customer/guest relations to all staff, MCs and Guests.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with local law enforcement, neighbouring businesses, and local theme park security professionals.
Maintains positive relationship with Profit Protection Manager and assists in Profit Protection investigations as needed.
Health & Safety Ensures Security team is first aid, CPR, and AED trained.
Leads team in PSO Powers to Arrest and Weapons of Mass Destruction & Terrorism Awareness training.
Ensures Security team is properly trained in defensive tactics and handcuff procedures.
Ensures building and equipment inspections are conducted throughout the Resort.
Ensures facilities, equipment and other assets are properly secured.
Maintain and implement risk assessments for Security operations, Resort special events, and VIP/dignitary visits.
Assist Public Safety Manager with Security related awareness/Safety Program.
Will assist or teach various Security classes required.
This position is responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety & Security within their team, in line with the Group Policy (HS001). They must ensure that risk assessments have been carried out, that safe working procedures are in place for all work activities and that all employees in their teams are aware of the Group Health, Safety and Security Policy and their obligations under it. They must ensure that safe working practices are monitored, and that risk assessments and procedures are reviewed regularly. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are investigated appropriately and that where necessary, corrective action is taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
Qualifications & Experience:
Background & Experience:
Requires at least two years of leadership/supervisory experience, including employee training.
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelors degree in relevant field such as criminal justice, security, safety, or business helpful.
Excellent communication, reasoning, interpersonal and writing skills are required and necessary in this position as well as the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent phone, radio and person to person communication skills are essential to this position.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal laws & regulations
Prior Security experience is helpful.
ASIS-CPP, PCI, or PSP certifications helpful.
CFI, Wicklander-Zulawski, & McAfee Cyber Intelligence certifications helpful.
Must have current PSO or State of California issued Guard Card or can obtain one upon starting position.
Must be CPR/First Aid/ AED trained and make certificate available upon hire.
Must be willing to work flexible hours, vacation, weekends, and graveyard shifts to support Resort operations. Primary schedule is 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM. This could be subject to change. Must be willing to adjust schedule as needed for training purposes or other event that normally take place during normal business hours.
Must have valid drivers license, safe driving record and proof of valid auto insurance.
