Payroll Tax Manager
Overview
The Payroll Tax Manager will oversee all facets of a multi-jurisdictional, payroll tax process. The manager will ensure that work locations are researched and set up in systems, as required, and all associates hired or rehired are coded accurately for federal, state, and local jurisdictional withholdings (in compliance with governmental regulations). Additionally, the manager will provide guidance to and support team members to ensure a successful payroll tax operation within the department.
Core Responsibilities
Oversee all facets of a multi-jurisdictional, payroll tax process.
Oversee the daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual workflow as it relates to tax processes, including establishing accounts with new taxing jurisdictions, new jurisdiction set-up with ADP, tax movements, relocation gross-ups, auto allowance updates and amendment processing.
Organize training for specialists and analysts involved in the day-to-day payroll tax research and coding process.
Oversee agency tax notice issues and escalate for resolution.
Assist Payroll Manager with application updates, enhancements, and implementations related to the payroll tax process.
Oversee Payroll State Allocation, Annual Worker's Compensation audit processes, along with the quarterly, semi-annual, and annual filings.
Ensure that all payroll taxes are correctly withheld, reported, paid, and filed in compliance with laws and regulations.
Serve as the primary contact with ADP Tax Services for tax set-ups and filings in all federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
Manage state unemployment tax rates and oversee employment ADPs tax processing.
Skills Qualifications
Required :
Expert with Microsoft Office Suite or related software Proficient with Payroll/HR software systems, ADP a plus
Strong communication skills, both oral and written Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to handle high volume customer service requests
Education
Required:
Bachelor's degree in business (accounting, finance, business administration, etc) or equivalent experience
Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience,
Two years of supervisory experience with strong knowledge of payroll processing and multi-state and locality taxation
Experience with Canadian Payroll processing a plus
