Your Impact as a Tax Insurance Broker
Aon is seeking candidates for the position of Tax Insurance Broker. Aon is the leading broker of tax insurance and tax credit insurance in North America. The tax insurance team is part of Aon M&A and Transaction Solutions and is staffed primarily by former practicing tax lawyers.
Tax insurance is actively used to facilitate M&A transactions, tax credit investments and as a corporate risk management tool. However, a significant opportunity exists to broaden the use of tax insurance throughout the U.S. and North American region. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and highly motivated to contribute to the growth of this in-demand and fast-growing business.
The Tax Insurance Broker position is commensurate with the growth of Aons tax insurance business and the growth opportunity related to the expanded renewable energy tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act. As part of a candidates duties, they will assist Aon colleagues to drive increased use of tax insurance with existing Aon clients and prospects and prospects new to Aon. Ideal candidates will be tax lawyers with significant professional expertise with renewable energy tax credits and tax equity structures and an established professional network as well as client facing experience delivering tax-related services. Candidates should have a strong background in U.S. federal income taxation and significant experience with general U.S. tax law and assessments and the tax ramifications of business transactions, particularly expertise with renewable energy tax credits and tax equity structures. M&A-related and tax controversy experience is considered a benefit though not a requirement for the position.
The position will be at the VP to SVP level depending on experience. The candidate can be based in one of several North American Aon office where AMATS has a presence, working with existing AMATS tax team members. It is anticipated that the position will eventually involve travel to support producers and sales efforts and visit clients. The position will report to Corey Lewis, Managing Director of Aons North American Tax Credit Insurance practice.
Job Responsibilities:
Structuring and placing tax insurance and tax credit insurance programs on behalf of Aons clients.
Supporting the production efforts of Aons retail producers and account executives.
Attendance at important tax related conferences to promote Aons tax insurance team and the overall M&A and Transaction Solutions business.
You Bring Knowledge and Expertise
Skills/Experience
Tax lawyer or tax accountant with significant experience practicing tax law in the renewable. energy tax credits and tax equity industry.
At least 5 years of relevant work experience, specifically client facing experience practicing tax law and/or inhouse experience and proven ability to develop tax related business.
Good network among the legal and business community.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of self-direction and sound judgment.
Experience managing tax professionals.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $250,000 to $300,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicants education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicants geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aons annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
