The Cutting Machine Operator position will provide services to ensure that fabrics are cut to customer (Internal and External) specifications. This position is also responsible for ensuring that pattern pieces are properly organized and properly distributed to the sewing work-stations, all within the quality standards of Wieland Designs, Inc.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Basic Windows computer skills.
* Demonstrate basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
* Demonstrate ability to read a tape measure up to 1/8 inch.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative and Business Skills:
* Identify fabric on storage rack record to assure proper placement of materials.
* Scan fabric tickets and enter information into system.
* Complete ticket on leather, recording amount used.
* Report any non-conformances to the immediate supervisor.
Technical Skills:
* Retrieve proper fabric rack, according to production schedule.
* Pull fabric from transporting roll and place on cutting table to specified length.
* Calculate amount of yards used from fabric rolls and update roll tag.
* Double check for proper amount of fabric layers on cutting table according to production schedule.
* Read cut sheets
* Convert measurements: Inches to yards

* Physical demands: Must be able to work continuously in a standing position for the duration of a shift (8 9 hours), pull fabric with hands, and lift 10 pounds continuously and occasionally 25 pounds. Repetitive movements required with arms and hands while grasping and handling cut pieces of material.
* Mental Demand: Must be able to read English and scan bar code tickets into the computer system, and learn basic computer commands. Must have good visual ability in order to determine fabric patterns and make color distinctions on various fabric and materials.
* Work environment: Medium level of noise from the Gerber Cutting system operating, some airborne lint and light dust from handling various types of fabrics.
